Year 4 Math
Build confident number sense and problem-solving across the NSW NESA Stage 2 Mathematics syllabus — taught in small Blacktown classes that make the foundations stick.
What we cover
Aligned to the NSW NESA Stage 2 Mathematics syllabus. Year 4 is where multiplication, division and fractions take shape — we make sure the foundations are genuinely secure.
Place value to tens of thousands
Reading, writing, ordering and partitioning numbers using place value.
Addition & subtraction
Flexible mental and written strategies for multi-digit addition and subtraction.
Multiplication & division
Building multiplication facts to 10×10 and using them for division.
Fractions
Modelling, naming and comparing fractions — halves, quarters, thirds, fifths and eighths.
Length, area & angles
Measuring length, perimeter and area, and identifying angles and symmetry in 2D shapes.
Data & chance
Collecting and displaying data, and describing the chance of everyday events.

Common questions
My child finds times tables hard — can you help?
Yes. Multiplication fluency is a Year 4 priority. We use short, regular retrieval practice so facts become automatic, which makes division and fractions far easier.
What if my child is behind in maths — will they keep up with the class?
We start by quickly identifying any gaps and addressing them directly before moving forward with Year 4 content. Most students catch up within a few sessions once the missing concepts click into place.
How do you make maths enjoyable for primary-aged children?
We use practical examples — measuring, sharing, grouping — that give abstract number concepts a concrete meaning. Small classes also mean students get to ask questions freely, which removes the anxiety that can make maths feel hard.
How big are the classes?
Classes are kept small — between 1 and 5 students — so every student gets personal attention and their questions actually get answered each lesson. Prefer one-on-one? Private 1:1 sessions are available on request.
Can I try a class before enrolling?
Yes. Your first trial class is completely free, with no payment details required. If it's not the right fit, there's no obligation.
Where are classes held?
In person at our Blacktown centre on Main Street — easily reached from Seven Hills, Quakers Hill, Woodcroft, Marayong, Kings Langley, Doonside, Lalor Park and Rooty Hill.
