Common questions
How do you prepare students for senior English?
We focus on sustained analytical writing and close textual analysis now, so the move into Year 11 Advanced or Standard is a step up in content, not a whole new skill set.
What does 'thesis-driven' writing mean in Year 9?
It means every essay opens with a clear position and every paragraph connects directly back to supporting it — not just summarising the text. We teach students to write with a point of view, not just description.
How do you prepare students for the kinds of texts in senior English?
Year 9 is deliberately where we push into more challenging and diverse texts — literary fiction, film, non-fiction — so students are used to unfamiliar material before the HSC modules lock in a set text.
How big are the classes?
Classes are kept small — between 1 and 5 students — so every student gets personal attention and their questions actually get answered each lesson. Prefer one-on-one? Private 1:1 sessions are available on request.
Can I try a class before enrolling?
Yes. Your first trial class is completely free, with no payment details required. If it's not the right fit, there's no obligation.
Where are classes held?
In person at our Blacktown centre on Main Street — easily reached from Seven Hills, Quakers Hill, Woodcroft, Marayong, Kings Langley, Doonside, Lalor Park and Rooty Hill.
