Homework Club.
A weekly supervised session at our Blacktown centre where enrolled students bring in their school homework and our tutors help them work through it, with bonus ways to earn reward tokens along the way.
Simple, supervised, and a little bit rewarding.
Homework Club runs weekly at our Suite E, Level 1/111 Main Street centre in Blacktown, for students already enrolled in a Lux class.
Bring in your homework
Students come along to Homework Club each week with whatever school homework they've got on. There's no need to book a specific subject in advance.
A tutor helps you work through it
Our tutors are on hand in the room to answer questions, check working and keep students on task. It's proper supervision, not just a quiet room to sit in.
Earn tokens as you go
Our token rewards program runs across every class at Lux at no extra cost: every student earns a token for handing in homework. Homework Club adds bonus ways to earn, like setting and achieving work goals, or beating a tutor at chess.
It pairs neatly with Lux classes, too.
Every Lux class sets weekly homework, and Homework Club gives students a supportive, supervised place to actually sit down and do it, with a tutor nearby when they get stuck. Revisiting the week's material a few days after class is also exactly the kind of spaced review that stops new learning from fading. School homework stays the club's bread and butter, but it also works brilliantly for Lux homework.
Prizes worth working for.
Every Lux student earns a token for handing in homework. It's part of every class, at no extra cost. Students who come to Homework Club get bonus chances to earn by setting and achieving work goals and completing challenges, like beating a tutor at chess.
Tokens add up and get redeemed at our prize cabinet, or spent on a spin of the prize wheel. Go on, give the wheel a spin.
Structured help, not just a room with a desk.
Some tutoring centres in Blacktown sell unlimited membership plans — one flat weekly fee for as much drop-in time as you like. That can suit some families. But unlimited time isn't the same as focused help, and it's worth weighing what you're actually getting.
At Lux, a student's regular class ($40/hour) is where the real teaching happens: a consistent tutor, a planned curriculum, and marked homework. Homework Club ($10 per session) is a genuinely useful top-up on top of that: supervised time to get school homework done, with a tutor nearby to help. We think a focused hour with a consistent tutor plus a supervised top-up session tends to achieve more than unstructured drop-in time alone. Every family's needs are different, though, and it's a fair thing to compare for yourself.
Homework Club questions.
What actually happens at Homework Club?
Homework Club is an optional weekly session at our Blacktown centre where students bring in their school homework (from any subject) and our tutors are on hand to help them work through it. It runs alongside, not instead of, their regular Lux classes.
How does the token rewards program tie in?
Every student at Lux earns a token for handing in their homework. That's part of every class, at no extra cost, whether or not they come to Homework Club. Homework Club simply adds bonus ways to earn on top of that: setting and achieving work goals, and completing challenges like beating a tutor at chess. Tokens are redeemed at our prize cabinet or with a spin of the prize wheel.
Is Homework Club included in the hourly rate?
No. Homework Club is a separate, optional extra billed at $10 per session, on top of our standard $40/hour class rate. It's there for families who want extra supervised homework time; you're never required to add it on.
Do we need to be enrolled in a class to join?
Yes. Homework Club is available to students already enrolled in a Lux class. It's designed as a top-up to their tutoring, not a stand-alone service.
