Year 10 Math
Master Stage 5 maths and bridge into the HSC — quadratics, non-linear graphs, trigonometry and deductive geometry — across the NSW NESA syllabus, in small Blacktown classes.
What we cover
Aligned to the NSW NESA Stage 5 Mathematics syllabus. Year 10 consolidates Stage 5 and previews senior content — we make sure students are ready for their chosen HSC maths course, including the 5.3 pathway.
Algebraic techniques & equations
Factorising quadratics and solving quadratic and simultaneous equations.
Non-linear relationships
Graphing parabolas, circles, exponentials and other non-linear functions.
Trigonometry
Bearings and, for 5.3 students, trigonometry in non-right-angled triangles.
Surds & numbers of any magnitude
Operating with surds, and very large and small numbers in scientific notation.
Properties of geometrical figures
Deductive geometry, similarity and formal reasoning and proof.
Bivariate data & 5.3 pathways
Bivariate data, plus the 5.3 topics (polynomials, logarithms and functions) that lead into senior Mathematics.

Meet the whole teamEvery class follows the same structure.
Based on cognitive science — it minimises load and builds durable understanding and exam confidence.
Class review
Rapid retrieval practice of past concepts — active recall to beat the forgetting curve.
Explicit instruction
Theory broken into the smallest parts, taught in simple, consistent language.
Guided practice
Worked examples together, tutor scaffolding fading as competence grows.
Independent practice
Exam-style questions with instant feedback, so errors are caught before they stick.
Exit test
A short end-of-class check on retention; targeted homework where needed.
Homework
Weekly consolidation that moves class learning into long-term memory.

Common questions
How do you help with the transition to Year 11 maths?
We make sure Stage 5 (including the 5.3 pathway, where relevant) is solid, then preview Year 11 topics so students start senior maths already a step ahead.
How do you help students decide between Year 11 Mathematics Advanced and Extension 1?
We can give an honest assessment after seeing a student's Stage 5 work — specifically their algebra fluency and reasoning. The decision should be based on genuine readiness, not just aspiration.
Quadratic equations seem really hard — is there a method that helps?
Absolutely — we teach all three methods (factorising, quadratic formula, and completing the square) and help students recognise which is fastest for each question type. Fluency across all three is what the exam rewards.
How big are the classes?
Classes are kept small — between 1 and 5 students — so every student gets personal attention and their questions actually get answered each lesson. Prefer one-on-one? Private 1:1 sessions are available on request.
Can I try a class before enrolling?
Yes. Your first trial class is completely free, with no payment details required. If it's not the right fit, there's no obligation.
Where are classes held?
In person at our Blacktown centre on Main Street — easily reached from Seven Hills, Quakers Hill, Woodcroft, Marayong, Kings Langley, Doonside, Lalor Park and Rooty Hill.
