What students & parents say

The people who'll be teaching your child.

High-achieving and passionate about helping students succeed.

Choose a subject

Your school subjects. The NSW syllabus.

Choose your year and subject to see what we teach. Primary, OC and Selective preparation are taught in person at Blacktown.

Every online class follows six deliberate stages.

Online students follow the same six-stage lesson sequence as our Blacktown classroom. We retrieve what students have learned, teach the next concept clearly, practise applying it and check retention before the class ends.

Top tutors

Our tutors have all scored in the highest result band (Band 6 or E4) in the subject they teach.

A science-based system

Teaching materials and homework drawn from the notes of the highest achievers, used in a six-stage lesson sequence built on cognitive science.

A supportive environment

Classes with 1–5 in person, so no one gets lost at the back. A motivational space where students learn alongside top-achieving tutors and earn rewards for their hard work.

Real, steady progress
Most students report improvement after just a few sessions

Inside the system · every class, six stages

01 · Retrieval

Class review

Rapid retrieval practice of past concepts — active recall to beat the forgetting curve.

02 · Instruction

Explicit instruction

Theory broken into the smallest parts, taught in simple, consistent language.

03 · Guided

Guided practice

Worked examples together, tutor scaffolding fading as competence grows.

04 · Independent

Independent practice

Exam-style questions with instant feedback, so errors are caught before they stick.

05 · Test

Exit test

A short end-of-class check on retention; targeted homework where needed.

06 · Consolidate

Homework

Weekly consolidation that moves class learning into long-term memory.

Real teaching material

Judge the teaching, not the adjectives.

A past-paper Hess’s law question, worked through on the board in a Year 11 Chemistry lesson. Annotations as they were made.

Online tutoring FAQs

Is online tutoring the same price as in person?

Yes. Online and in-person small-group classes have the same prices and the same free trial: $40/hour, or $60 for a standard 1.5-hour class.

Will my child’s class be online only?

Not always. Online lessons may run in a hybrid format, where online students join the same live lesson as students in our Blacktown classroom. We confirm the format and class time with you before your trial.

How many students are in a class?

Hybrid classes have 1–5 students at Blacktown plus 1–5 online students, with up to 10 students in total. Dedicated online classes have 1–5 students. Lux One Sessions are private one-to-one lessons.

Which subjects and year levels can study online?

Years 7–10 students can study Maths and English. For Years 11–12, we offer Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1, English Advanced and English Standard. Online tutoring is available across Sydney and anywhere in NSW. Primary, OC and Selective preparation are taught in person.

How do I join my lesson?

Once your class and time are confirmed, you will receive a link to join the meeting. Have your class materials and something to write with ready. If you need help with your device, audio or sharing written work, tell us when arranging the trial so we can walk you through the setup.

What if I have trouble joining?

Call us on 0413 979 745 or email hello@luxtuition.com.au if you cannot join or your connection drops. We will help you work out the next step. Let us know about any setup questions before your first class.

Can I try an online class for free?

Yes. Your first trial is free, with no payment details and no obligation to enrol. Send an enquiry and we’ll confirm your class and time.

Is Homework Club available online?

No. Homework Club takes place at our Blacktown centre. It is a separate paid add-on, not part of the online lesson.
